About Me
About Me
Hello! My name is Matthew Anderson, and I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-6 TSD Endorsement and a Concentration in History at Kean University. I am in my final semester at Kean finishing my student teaching at Old Mill Elementary school in a Kindergarten classroom. My mission is to create a learning environment that not only supports but also empowers students with diverse needs, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Throughout my educational journey, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience working with students in various settings, including my student teaching, summer camps and after-school programs. These opportunities have deepened my understanding of how to adapt teaching strategies to meet each student's unique learning style. As I continue to grow in my education and career, I am dedicated to fostering an inclusive, uplifting classroom where every student feels valued, understood, and motivated to reach their fullest potential.
In addition to my practical experience, I’ve always prioritized academic excellence. I will graduate Summa Cum Laude from Kean University in May 2025 with a GPA of 3.91. I also graduated Cum Laude from Ocean County College with an Associate’s Degree in Education in 2023. My foundation in education began with my high school years at Brick Memorial High School, where I ranked in the Top 5% of my class and was an active participant in extracurricular activities, including the Varsity Swim Team and the Key Club.
I am committed to continuing my professional development and have actively sought out opportunities to expand my knowledge, including attending Temple Grandin lectures on autism education and professional development focusing on a wide variety of topics such as small group instruction, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, DIBELS training to help assess and support early literacy development.
