Student Teacher (Kindergarten) | Old Mill Elementary School
Wall, NJ | 09/2024 – 05/2025
As a student teacher, I’ve had the opportunity to design and implement small group instruction, focusing on literacy development through programs such as Heggerty Phonemic Awareness. I incorporated a variety of educational tools, including Magnetic, Envisions Math, Mystery Science, i-Ready, and Ready Reading, to enhance student engagement and meet diverse learning needs. Differentiated instruction was a key component of my approach, ensuring individualized support through data-driven decisions. Additionally, I created a hands-on, collaborative classroom environment that encouraged active participation and student growth. I also led a 3D Printing Club, providing 5th-grade students with innovative opportunities to explore design concepts and foster creativity.
Inclusion Aide, Behavioral Specialist, and Camp Counselor | YMCA of Greater Monmouth County
Wall, NJ | 06/2016 – Present
At the YMCA, I have worked with children with autism, developmental disabilities, and behavioral challenges, supporting them through individualized behavior management plans and creating inclusive activities. I trained and supported staff in behavior management techniques, improving the overall camp environment for both staff and campers. I also held leadership roles in high ropes, climbing, and archery programs, ensuring safety and fostering teamwork. My role as a camp counselor has been integral in promoting positive social interactions and personal growth for children while creating a safe and engaging environment.
Direct Support Professional / Program Lead | The Family Resource Network
East Windsor, NJ | 09/2018 – 06/2022
In my role at The Family Resource Network, I designed and implemented after-school programs for students with autism and developmental disabilities. These programs focused on academic, recreational, and social growth, emphasizing the development of life skills. I collected and analyzed behavioral data to tailor individualized support plans, ensuring that each student's needs were met. I also supervised and mentored a team of staff members, ensuring compliance with organizational policies while fostering a supportive environment for both staff and students.
Check out this video highlighting a week-long overnight camp for students with special needs, hosted by Camp NOVA and run by the Family Resource Network. During my time at FRN, I had the privilege of serving as a lead counselor. This role provided me with invaluable hands-on experience working directly with the special needs community, enhancing my skills in behavior management and personalized support.
